We often get asked what is the best height for a pool safety fence. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a four foot tall removable pool safety fence with a self latching, self closing and lockable gate. They recommend this type of fence for a variety of reasons. The first is that this type of pool fence cannot be climbed by a child because there is no real place for a child to put a foot or get a foothold to leverage themselves over the fence. The second is the height of four feet is tall enough for the kids to not have the upper body strength to pull themselves over. As you can see in the photo, pool safety fence comes in five feet tall as well. This may be a bit much for most but some parents request it so we make it. Pool fence in Puerto Rico is mosty commonly 4 feet. Certainly we recomment a self closing and self latching and lockable gate to go with your fence because it will provide you the piece of mind you need when the phone rings and you step outside the pool to answer it.
