Pool Fences in Puerto Rico have to be built with the strongest materials and have UV protection from the blistering sun on a year round basis. Not only do Pool Guard pool safety fences have all of these factors but they have introduced their new corner post for optimal aesthetics and optimal strength. As illustrated in the photo here, you can see the corner is very strong as well as a sharp corner for aesthetic purposes. This is beneficial so that when the pool fence is taken down and put back up many times there will be not fatigue like most fences on the market have over time. This is just another reason Pool Guard of Puerto Rico is the obvious choice in pool safety fences for Puerto Rico. Call today for a free pool fence estimate to make your pool safe for kids.

More often than not Pool Fence is the last thought on the minds of a home buyers list of things to take care of . Children are excited by the prospect of having a new home with a pool and having their new bedroom and what color it will be painted and all of the other associated excitement surrounding the move.
As parents, we must all remember that pool safety comes first. Not second, third or fourth. It takes seconds for a child to fall into a pool and the end result can be from bad to fatal. Removable pool safety fence is not a law in Puerto Rico. It should be but we all know the politics surrounding just getting the "common sense" laws passed in the Commonwealth. As a first step it is recommended to put door alarms on all doors leading to the backyard from inside the house. These can be purchased online and are very economical. The second layer of protection you would want to add to your property is to make sure all gates leading to the back yard are lockable and self closing. The most important layer of protection is the pool safety fence. This protects children when you are looking and when you are not looking. The importance of a self closing, self latching and lockable gate are self explanatory especially when you have a pool service person (the gate closes itself so the exposure to the pool is reduced). Whatever your priorities are when it comes to acquiring a new house with a pool, make sure that pool safety fence is one of them because it can truly make the difference ! Pool Safety in the Caribbean. A simple yet powerful statement with a mere 5 words. Pool safety is not a topic that most think of when they dream about sandy beaches and marlin fishing in the Caribbean but guess what...the Caribbean and particularly Puerto Rico has a tremendous amount of pools. While most people will contend that the yards are smaller in Puerto Rico than the average size of a yard in the United States mainland and that most pools here in Puerto Rico have a fence around to keep kids out or stalemating that "attractive nuisance" HOWEVER the reality of the statistics is another bite of a different fruit. The reality is that most of the time the pool incidents that occur are regarding the kids that live in the home and thus the fence (concrete or cyclone) is not a remedy to keep the children that live in the home or are visiting out of the pool. This is the key component that is very often overlooked. "It will never happen to me" and then it does. My kid can swim so it is not a concern (but their friends may not be able to swim). An unprotected swimming pool is an invitation for trouble. Plain and simple. Pool fence comes in different colors When looking for pool fence, ask to see the various colors not just what the person has available .The most common colors in Puerto Rico are Beige, Brown and sometimes a combination of the two. While all black fence tends to be popular in the United States, here in Puerto Rico the housing color and size of the yard plays a role in the tendency to use a lighter color. Some may argue that is shows dirt easier however with the UV coating that the Pool Guard fence has, cleaning is as simple as a hose and broom for a light cleansing. The darker colors tend to make an area look smaller (interior and exterior designers will tell you the same about house paint especially when painting a small room, a light color will make the area feel bigger). Pool fence in Puerto Rico comes in standard 4' or can be ordered in 5' tall as well. The most common height is 4' tall as this American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that every pool has a pool safety fence as well as a self closing, self latching and lockable pool safety gate. The gate portion of a pool fence system is the portion that receives the most use because of the traffic flow. This in and of itself simply makes it very important to pay close attention to the construction of the gate when making the purchase of your pool fence system. The gate should be reinforced in as many places as possible (most styles are dependent on the fence system itself however the better gates are independent, in other words if you take the fence out the fence will stand on it's own) and a bottom bar reinforcement is the preferred and gold standard of the industry. Be careful of marketing gimmicks when it comes to making your decision on what company to use. There are a lot of "here today, change companies tomorrow" businesses out there, especially here on the island. Ask how long they have been in business and how long they have been selling the same brand and working with the same manufacturer. This should shed some light on who and what you may be entering into an agreement with. Above all, make sure your pool gets protected sooner than later.
Pool Safety fences are not a legal requirement here in Puerto Rico like some other states like Florida however just because it is not a law does not mean that every residential pool should not have a pool fence around the pool in Puerto Rico. Pool safety is certainly a topic that should be taken very seriously for children and pets. Pets? Yes pets. We had a client last week that had a black Labrador retriever for 7 years and some how the dog got into a large plastic back and while trying to remove the bag from his head, he managed to fall into the pool resulting in him drowning. These types of incidents are not reported in Puerto Rico because...well I really do not know why not. The dog in this case was the only dog the kids had ever had (the kids are a little older than the dog by a year or two). This tragedy occurred six months ago. The emotional sensitivity has gotten a little better about the topic and a new lab has been adopted to the family (puppy) but the difference this time around is that the owner has elected to have a pool safety fence installed for the dogs and even for other kids that may come to visit.
A new pool at your home is exciting. As you gaze out to look at your backyard you can almost see the cook outs, the birthday parties and even actually swimming. The segment that is most often overlooked is the safety factor of owning a pool. Many people will tell you that they have a fence around their property so that will keep the kids out. The real issue is not keeping those kids out but preventing an accident with the kids that actually live in the house with the pool. There are several ways to protect the children. The most common is to have a pool safety fence professionally installed. Pool Guard of Puerto Rico has factory trained installers so that they can accommodate your back yard with a pool safety fence no matter how big or small the yard is.
