Pool Safety Fence Puerto Rico 2014

Pool Safety in the Caribbean. A simple yet powerful statement with a mere 5 words. Pool safety is not a topic that most think of when they dream about sandy beaches and marlin fishing in the Caribbean but guess what...the Caribbean and particularly Puerto Rico has a tremendous amount of pools. While most people will contend that the yards are smaller in Puerto Rico than the average size of a yard in the United States mainland and that most pools here in Puerto Rico have a fence around to keep kids out or stalemating that "attractive nuisance" HOWEVER the reality of the statistics is another bite of a different fruit. The reality is that most of the time the pool incidents that occur are regarding the kids that live in the home and thus the fence (concrete or cyclone) is not a remedy to keep the children that live in the home or are visiting out of the pool. This is the key component that is very often overlooked. "It will never happen to me" and then it does. My kid can swim so it is not a concern (but their friends may not be able to swim). An unprotected swimming pool is an invitation for trouble. Plain and simple. Pool Guard of Puerto Rico takes a great deal of pride in offering a product that is made in the USA and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Pool Safety Covers Puerto Rico

Pool safety covers have increased in popularity in Puerto Rico for a couple of reasons. The first is that the value of a pool safety cover during the "off season" allows the pool to be closed with little to no maintenance all the while keeping the pool safe. As we all know if you do not have a heater on your pool, the pool is a little cool during the "winter" months of the year in Puerto Rico and many do not see the value of weekly service for their pool when it is not in use if they can simply close the pool for a couple of months. The second and lesser of the two main reasons for the pool cover is the rampant growth of the population of iguanas on the island. A Pool fence will  not keep these pesky reptiles at bay. A pool net will not keep them at bay. A pool safety cover will keep them out of the pool. Will they still leave "presents" on top of the pool cover? Yes. This is easily resolved by letting the "present" dry and then simply using a hose to spray it off (it will get wet again however it will get washed off the cover easier than when new). The second option is to use a lawn blower and blow it off. Either method is certainly more sanitary than the mess that is often left in the actual pool itself. Covering your Swimming Pool Puerto Rico

There seems to be several reasons for people wanting to cover their pools here
in Puerto Rico other than just the mere safety of having the pool secured. Often
people that have a property with a swimming pool in Puerto Rico cover their
pool because they are going to be gone for an extended amount of time from
their property and not only want it secure from children but from
the debris that the vast amount of vegetation generate given we are on an
island. Certainly the third and most paramount irritant in owning a pool in
Puerto Rico is the amount of Iguanas. These pesky reptiles continue to grow
in population and have now reached epidemic levels as they continue
to damage crops, disrupt planes landing at all the local airports and
use residential pools as their personal swimming holes. A pool safety cover
prohibits them from having their leisurely day in the sun at your pool
while you are at work during the day. How? Very simple. The horizontal
barrier does not allow them to get to the pool and thus eliminates
your pool as a source of drinking and swimming source for these reptiles. Pool
safety covers come in an assortment of colors and materials so that
you can have a selection of what you feel is best needed for your specific
pool. Certainly not all covers are built the same and that is why we recommend
you to contact your local pool cover installer and review the benefits of the
manufacturer and their respective material. The warranty will range depending
on the manufacturer and the product so make sure that the product that
you select can be referenced back to the website of the company and that you get
your warranty registration papers when you have your cover
installed.

As the "winter months" ascend upon us here in the of Puerto Rico the increased in recognition for pool safety covers becomes more pronounced. The electricity costs of living on an island (particularly this one) can really limit the use of a pool heat pump resulting in the need for pool owners to close their pools for the "winter". Pool safety covers come in an assortment of colors, materials and with a variety of warranty offerings. Some companies offer 15 year warranties but you must be aware that the fine print on the warranty usually says that it is the first year full warranty and then the other 14 are pro rated. A strong warranty in the industry consists of a 12-15 year warranty. The best in the industry will offer a full warranty on the first two to three years. ASK before you purchase so you know what you are purchasing. The materials come in two different types. The first is a mesh that is very simiiliar to trampoline material. This will or is offered in a residential grade and a commercial grade. The second type of material that is offered is a solid type material that does not allow any light or debris through. It will/should have a drain hatch in the center to eliminate pooling on top of the pool (this is obviously not safe). The range of cost on a pool safety cover can be $800 to $2,200 depending on the size of the pool, the materials used and last but certainly not least the number of obstacles in the pool (ladders, water falls, slides, diving boards/rocks etc.). The last and most important aspect is the installers experience. Ask to see photos of local jobs. A good number of installs would be about 30. This is an installer that really knows what they are doing and has expereienced most everything resulting in a good source to purchase your pool cover for in Puerto Rico.

Pool covers continue to become a more and more requested product in Puerto Rico and this is attributed to the iguana population. Obviously iguanas are not indigenous of Puerto Rico. If you ask the local residents they will quickly explain that the iguana poplulation was rocketed by the trend of everyone owning one in the 1990's and then when they become bored with the reptile, they simply set it free in the back yard or somewhere else. An iguana can live in the wild for 20 years and reach a weight of 6 feet 6 inches and weigh 11 lbs. This modern version of a dinosaur (excluding the carnivore portion) has been invading back yards in Puerto Rico and the invasion continues to increase by the day as they reproduce and get more aggressive seeking a water source...such as a swimming pool. The problem is that iguanas are actually quite dirty creatures. They relieve themselves in the water, on the pool deck etc. (just as any wild creature does). The feces can actually be quite smelly, quite large and of course disgusting. Certainly a dog that is in the area may actually consume the feces and then will get a intestinal infection (this is a real situation that has happened to several clients on the island). The ironic part is that if you cut off their water source (the pool), the poplulation and the problems associated with them lessen immediately simply because they have no water source. How do you cut off that water source i.e. the swimming pool? A pool safety cover has proven to be quite effective in the battle against iguanas. The best answer is probably the solid cover because if the iguanas elect to excrete or relieve themselves onthe cover, the solid cover does not let any of the byproduct through. A mesh cover will be effective but not as effective. If you are having problems with iguanas we suggest that you contact pool guard of puerto rico td
